Boulder
Over the past week I have been in Boulder, enjoying mountain views, dry air, and an abundance of good eats. My good friend Dana, otherwise known as The Kitchen Witch, invited me to stay and play with her while attending the Food and Light conference. Her sharp wit, warm heart, and fantastic family made it a great trip.
In the span of a week we frequently feasted on burrata, spent hours wandering through a magnificent farmer’s market, sipped tea in the Boulder Tea House, and majorly geeked out on food photography. The Food and Light conference was nothing short of amazing. Led by Jen Yu, Todd Porter and Diane Cu, and Helen Dejuardin, participants spent two days in a light-filled room above the streets of Boulder. Highly interactive and collaborative, the conference delved into the nuances of light and styling for food photography. It was a true pleasure to finally meet Jen, Todd and Diane, and Helen, and to learn that they are all as kind, hilarious, and generous in real life as they are online. An impressive roster of participants added to the experience, bringing together food bloggers from all over the country for two days of shared learning.
I was very honored to have this photo voted “Best Overall” by conference participants.
My brain is full, my belly hurts from laughing, and I’m headed back home with the joy of new skills and new friends. Since the week was such a visual experience, I thought I would leave you with a brief slide show of the people and images captured in Boulder.

OMG, there's the prize-winning pic!! Gor-geous! So glad you came out…one of my best weeks ever. Umm…how tired do I look in that picture? Waking up every hour the night before was NOT kind to me.

That photo is beautiful! Congrats on the award, very well deserved. I wish I would have known about the workshop, I live nearby. Probably a mute point since I use a point and shoot camera. And that burata cheese. I've never found any in Colorado, only had it in Oregon and fell in love!

PHOO-D WIIIIINS!
Good for you and your award. And good for you spending a week in Boulder. I always loved it there and briefly considering attending CSU-Boulder. Instead I moved here. I think Boulder has better restaurants, though.

TKW- It was one of the best weeks ever! You don't look tired at all, though if you did the night wanderer is to blame!
Romaine- Thank you. It was really fun to meet you as well. I loved hearing about your salad in a jar!
LeaAnn- Thank you very much. If you check at a Whole Foods they are carrying burrata more often now.
Kiristin- Lol, thanks! I think Boulder has an excellent selection of restaurants which is a perk for sure.

That photo is art. Not artistic, though it is. ART.
I love Boulder. I'm so jealous . . . both of the trip and the opportunity.
Invite me next year!

It's been fun watching the friendship between you and Dana grow. How cool is that! To meet Jen would be a joy for me, because she's such a gifted photographer. I've watched your photography grow, over the last year or so. You've got a gift, too. You deserved the award you received.
