Over the past week I have been in Boulder, enjoying mountain views, dry air, and an abundance of good eats. My good friend Dana, otherwise known as The Kitchen Witch, invited me to stay and play with her while attending the Food and Light conference. Her sharp wit, warm heart, and fantastic family made it a great trip.

Dana, The Kitchen Witch

In the span of a week we frequently feasted on burrata, spent hours wandering through a magnificent farmer’s market, sipped tea in the Boulder Tea House, and majorly geeked out on food photography. The Food and Light conference was nothing short of amazing. Led by Jen Yu, Todd Porter and Diane Cu, and Helen Dejuardin, participants spent two days in a light-filled room above the streets of Boulder. Highly interactive and collaborative, the conference delved into the nuances of light and styling for food photography. It was a true pleasure to finally meet Jen, Todd and Diane, and Helen, and to learn that they are all as kind, hilarious, and generous in real life as they are online. An impressive roster of participants added to the experience, bringing together food bloggers from all over the country for two days of shared learning.

I was very honored to have this photo voted “Best Overall” by conference participants.

My brain is full, my belly hurts from laughing, and I’m headed back home with the joy of new skills and new friends. Since the week was such a visual experience, I thought I would leave you with a brief slide show of the people and images captured in Boulder.
